A Hotel Road Trip

HereRecently I went on a road trip from New York down to the sunny state of Florida, just as a mini vacation to get away from the brutal weather of New York. I’m sure you’re all wondering what hotels I stayed in. I did stay in some amazing hotels on the way down to Florida but I didn’t stay in a hotel while I was there. My family recently bought a house in Boca Raton (get ready to see more reviews from hotels in Boca Raton) and that’s where I stayed.

When I was on the road I took full advantage of staying in the best hotels that were available. Some people are confused by the difference between a hotel and a motel if you want to know what the difference is then click Here. Below I will list all the Hotels I stayed at.

List of Hotels I stayed in on the road:

Homewood Suites by Hilton Rocky Mount, NC

(Click here to visit the hotel’s website)

Residence Inn by Marriott Savannah Midtown, GA

(Click here to visit the hotel’s website)

Embassy Suites by Hilton Boca Raton, FL

(Click here to visit the hotel’s website)

Fairfield Inn by Marriott Orangeburg, SC

(Click here to visit the hotel’s website)

While all of the hotels listed above were good, two of them had some small issues I did not like. Below I will be giving a short review of the two hotels that I feel could have been better.

Embassy Suites by Hilton Boca Raton, FL

The Embassy Suites in Boca Raton is a great hotel with its atrium lobby. An atrium lobby is an open space in the middle of the hotel with the guestrooms sounding it on all sides. You can go up to any floor of the hotel and get a view of the lobby below. While riding the elevators which are in the middle of the lobby, you have a fantastic view the lobby through the open design glass windows.

The complimentary breakfast buffet consisted of multiple hot and cold food options. I found the breakfast to be fresh and enjoyable. My favorite part of the breakfast was the cook to order omelette station where the cook would prepare fresh eggs according to your liking.

The outdoor swimming pool area was nicely designed in a tropical theme with multiple palm trees sounding the area. There was enough seating for guests to enjoy the Florida sun. The pool was large enough for many people to cool down after spending time in the sun.

The main issue I had with this hotel was the size of the room. Once I entered the living room of my suite I was shocked by how small the room actually was. It was furnished with an older television, a desk, couch, and table with a lamp. I have stayed in other Embassy Suites and this one was by far the smallest living room I have been in. After looking around the living room I walked into the bedroom to find a nice king size bed with a free standing closet, a desk, and two-night tables on either side of the bed. The bathroom was a nice size with a brand new lighted mirror and a beautiful stand-up shower with sliding glass doors. The suite was recently renovated but my issue with the room was the size of the living room. When I opened the couch to make it into a bed it took up most of the space in the room leaving you no room to walk. You would have to squeeze around the bed to exit the room. In addition to the rooms being small, my other issue with this hotel was the customer relation skills of the front desk staff. While I will not go into detail I will say I found it to be lacking.

Fairfield Inn by Marriott Orangeburg, SC

The Fairfield Inn Orangeburg was a last minute decision while on the road. I had multiple options like staying in a Holiday Inn or a Hampton Inn but I chose this hotel based on its reviews The hotel was not at all what I was expecting. The lobby was small with no real sitting areas. The rooms were older with a smaller size television and an outdated decor. The construction was old since you could hear all the noise from the connecting rooms. I had a family in the next guestroom with a baby, and I was able to clearly hear the crying all night long.

The two positive things about this hotel were the breakfast and the staff. The breakfast buffet had a wide array of hot and cold items such as eggs, bacon, sausage, oatmeal, and many other selections. The one staff member that I interacted with was very nice and helpful with all my needs and concerns.

I will be reviewing both the Homewood Suites by Hilton Rocky Mount, NC and the Residence Inn by Marriott Savannah Midtown, GA in two separate posts.
