The next hotel on my Hot List of best hotels is the SLS South Beach, located in the sunshine state this hotel sits on the beach with spectacular views of the ocean. SLS is one of my favorite hotel brands. I love the modern spirit of this hotel as well as all of the other SLS properties around the world. So let’s take a peak into the SLS South Beach
- 144 Guestrooms
- The hotel opened in 2012
- Two on site restaurants
- Two bars
- Two pools on the property
I have personally visited this hotel multiple times. When you walk up the stairs to enter the hotel on the red carpet, you feel like you are royalty. As you enter the lobby you will have the check-in area to your left and The Bazaar by José Andrés to your right. The lobby is adorned with different art pieces on the wall and many different knick knacks scattered around. The check-in area is designed with a low roof small separate area just so you can check in and out, and has many funky pictures behind the desk. You will definitely want to take a lot of photos to post on your Instagram page. Once you pass the famous restaurant and check-in area you will go into a sitting area where you will find the elevators to the other floors and the door that leads you to the pool area. The lobby is not a huge area since the hotel itself is not big. This hotel actually used to be the Ritz Plaza.
All of the dining options at the composition are unique and delicious but there are so many different options when choosing where to eat so I am simply going to list the description of each of the restaurants as it is showed on the hotel’s website.
The Bazaar by José Andrés
The Bazaar, the world-renowned restaurant by the James Beard award-winning Chef José Andrés, makes its East Coast debut with a vibrant mix of sophisticated cuisine and playful indoor-outdoor lounge spaces.
The Bazaar menu blends Andrés’ Spanish heritage, tradition, and ingenuity with influences from South Beach’s local Latin flavors.
Master Sushi Chef Katsuya Uechi unleashes his culinary artistry onto South Beach with a menu of innovative sushi and robata dishes uniquely adapted for the American palate. Pair your meal with one of our two sake flights or handcrafted cocktail or enjoy rare selections from our Japanese Whiskey Cart. Private dining is available in the Dragon Lounge.
Cocktails become adventurous undertakings at Bar Centro by José Andrés. The culinary icon plays with a variety of fresh herbs, fruits, and vegetables as well as modern tools of liquid nitrogen and organic emulsifiers to elevate the classics and reimagine the modern mainstays. Welcome to Bar Centro, where Manhattans with liquid cherries and margaritas with salt air accompany delightful selections of caviar and Andrés’ signature snacks.
With more than 8,000 square feet of pool, beach and indoor-outdoor space, Hyde Beach offers artful mixology and Katsuya Uechi cuisine, all inspired by the flavors and culture of the local community. Enjoy lunch al fresco poolside or in our Mediterranean garden.
The rooms at the SLS are something different in every way. The guestrooms were designed by Philippe Starck with mirrors on the ceiling and white walls with drawing on them. You will be amazed by the room when you first walk in. Each room has its own unique touch. The three classes of rooms are:
- Superior city view king or double
- Premier ocean view king or double
The SLS offers two nice sized pools. The first pool is long but not wide, the pool is next to the private cabanas that you can rent and is under the villa guestrooms. If you are a selfie king or queen you will want to get a picture of yourself in front of the giant SLS duck. The second pool is closer to the ocean with a wider shape. The pools have different colored lounge chairs all around them. The pools at the SLS South Beach is the place to be with its amazing pool parties and of course the Hyde Beach Club, nothing can be better!
The SLS South Beach is in the center of it all, only a 15 min drive from the famous luxury Bal Harbour shops or down the road from the famous Lincoln Road shopping district. If you are interested in Miami’s Art Deco you are right there just step out of the hotel and take a short walk. The famous Wynwood art district located in Miami showcases many yet to be discovered artists’ work displayed on walls around the area. Many clubs and bars are located near the hotel. If you are just looking to enjoy the sun then step onto the white beaches of South Beach. Everything you could possibly want is nearby.
