Marriott International is Giving Sheraton Hotels a major makeover

Marriott has a plan to revamp the Sheraton Hotel brand. The Sheraton brand is Marriott’s third largest hotel brand by room count. Sheraton has a total of 444 hotels in 72 countries.

Marriott revealed a showroom located at the NYU International Hospitality Industry Investment Conference in Time Square yesterday and today. The showroom displayed Sheraton’s new lobby design. The new common area will have more comfortable seating, secure drawers where you can lock your phone in if you need to take a bathroom break, private booths that you can use to make phone calls, and a coffee bar that serves coffee in the morning and alcohol at night. The new area will even have “collaboration suites” which are semi-private meeting rooms that you can rent for a certain amount of time.

Twenty five percent of Sheraton Hotel owners across the United States are already committed to revamping their hotels at a total cost of about  500 million dollars.

Julius Robinson, senior vice president and global brand leader at Marriott, says that Sheraton owners that do not want to make the required changes are welcome to rebrand their hotels to another Marriott brand or leave the company altogether.
